A Closer Look
James Lloyd Breck and Ojibway leader Emnegahbowh established the
St. Columba mission among the Ojibway at Gull Lake in 1852. Other
northern missions were located at Crow Wing and along the north
shore of Lake Superior. There were also missions to the Dakota
in the southern areas of the state.
