Overview

This department provides the administrative direction for the City. The City Administrator serves as chief administrative officer for the City and reports to the Mayor and City Council. The City Administrator is also responsible for managing the overall operation of all city departments, ensuring that the charter, laws, ordinances, and resolutions of the City Council are enforced and implemented. The City Clerk's responsibilities involve the management of official records and documents of the city.

What's New

Water Meter Handout No. 3 Jan 31, 2012 — 2/1/2012

City officials participated in a meeting last week with representatives of HD Supply and Sensus, the contract vendor and manufacturer of the City’s recently installed water meters, respectively.  The parties agreed to implement a plan whereby HD Supply would work with the City’s public works staff to identify a random selection of water meters throughout the City for purposes shipping the meters to the manufacturer for testing.  The purpose of the testing is to determine the extent of the meter inaccuracies as well as identify the potential cause of the inaccuracies to the extent deficiencies in the water meter system exist.  Both HD Supply and the City will also be providing Sensus with product and use information to assist in their analysis of the meters.  City officials made it abundantly clear to representatives of both HD Supply and Sensus that the number one goal of the City is to restore the integrity of the water meter system as quickly as possible.

 

Any future developments relating to the City’s water meter system will be addressed in handouts available at City Hall and posted on the City’s web site.

Water Meter Handout No. 2 - January 24, 2012 — 1/24/2012

At a meeting of the Joint Committee of the City Council on January 17, 2012, City Administrator Chuck Whiting provided committee members with a Water Meter Assessment and Corrective Action Plan (“Plan”).  The Plan outlines various tasks to be undertaken by City staff for purposes of identifying the scope and extent of the water meter inaccuracies, preserving and pursuing the City’s options to correct any and all deficiencies in the City’s water meter system as well as reviewing City policies and/or practices pending remediation of the alleged deficiencies.  In particular, staff is exercising the City’s rights with regard to all guarantees and/or warranties obtained by the City as part of the 2009-2010 Automatic Meter Reading project from both the contractor and manufacturer of the recently installed water meters.  The City anticipates that the Plan may change or be supplemented as additional information is obtained and/or as more definitive plans for corrective action are developed.
